Group Research Facilities Our group has set up brand-new labs: Lab 214 (Reactor Lab, fully exhausted and blast proof with 13 gas lines), 215 (Dry Chemical Lab), 216 (Wet Chemical Lab), 217 (Fully exhausted Chemical Store), Level 2 of 9 Wally's Walk (Building E6A).
Material synthesis: 3 ovens, 2 muffles, 1 CVD tube furnace, 1 rotary evaporator (Heidolph), 2 refrigeratored/heating circulators (Julabo), 2 high-speed centrifuges (Beckmann), 1 ultrasonic crusher, 3 vacuum pumps, Unilab Pro glovebox for wet chemistry (MBraun), Plas Labs glovebox for dry chemistry (Thermofisher), 3 synthetic fume hoods equipped with Schlenk lines, 1 fume hood with blast shield and UV protection
(Photo)catalytic activity evaluation: 2 computer controlled fix-bed reactor systems (high pressure and temperature), 2 photo-reactor systems with light sources, 1 multiple photochemical reactor system, member distillation system for CO2 capture
Chemical production analysis: 1) Agilent 2 dimensional GC x GC (3 columns, 2TCD & FID, the second 2D GC in Australia), 2) Agilent 7890B Double Channel GC (TCD and FID), 3) Shimadzu 2014 GC with TCD and FID (Autoinjection), 4) Varian-490 micro gas chromatograph (GC)
In situ spectroscopes: diffuse reflectance infrared fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTs), attenuated total reflectance infrared spectroscopy (ATR-IR), In situ Raman electrochemical cell, in situ micro-reactor inside MAS NMR rotor, and photoreactor for in situ NMR, Newport fibre optical light source, IR pellet press.
Reciprocal access with neighboring laboratories give reliable access to nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), time-resolved microwave conductivity (TRMC), Raman (Horiba), fluorescence spectroscopy, 4D GCXGC-MS, HPLC, ICP-MS, BET surface area, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA/DSC). Faculty facilities including scanning and transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence spectrometer are available for the use of our group.
