Catalysis plays a crucial role in much of the world’s energy, green chemical processing, sustainable manufacturing and environmental technologies. The 2018 market report valued the total global demand on catalyst materials at ca. USD 25 billion. It is estimated that around 90 % of all chemical processing and manufacturing is underpinned by catalysis. Our group has outstanding accomplishments and expertise in thermal-, photo-, and electrocatalysis research, in particular through our unique combination of high-end spectroscopic techniques for understanding of new materials and discovery of novel catalytic systems. Our research spans across the areas of catalyst materials, spectroscopy and process modelling, and manufacturing of sustainable fuels and chemicals driven by solar energy.
